The former actor Prescott Westermount — arrested last month on suspicion of fencing stolen Meridian relics — was found dead this morning, having seemingly been thrown from his cell at the top of the Languishing Tower of Fort Misery.
Paramedics were called to the base of the tower to attempt an emergency resurrection, but he was deemed by one particularly nonchalant caster to ‘be in too many pieces’ for their spells to gain any purchase. He was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Great Metamouria in the Angel Ruin Expanse for reconstitution and postmortem. Westermount’s cellmate was (re)arrested on suspicion of his murder, having been found in a pool of blood from what later turned out to be the cutting out of their own tongue, which will no doubt complicate the questioning procedure.
As Westermount was scheduled to stand trial later tonight, his death does pose something of a logistical issue for the courts, though suggestions of a séance are yet to be ruled out completely (even in spite of their historically flimsy forensic reliability).
Westermount will be remembered for his hit roles in Albatross and the 45 AC remake of The Heavy Seven, and probably a bunch of other films too… though none actually spring to mind. He is survived by his two children, Wiscona and Eldric, who will not only inherit the 𝔗87M+ Westermount estate (including the 𝔗42M crime scene they’ll probably want to relive themselves of post-haste) but also a legacy of unanswered questions, so good luck to them with that.

Nelecrae Vascero joined as the Portal's cultural correspondent following a bout of severe budget cuts on the KHAZERES, and has proven ever since that their loss is mostly certainly our gain. Her intricate knowledge of Meridian heritage frequently places her in the midst of the most culturally significant events in the System, making for some truly compelling exposition.
Nelecrae currently resides in Ambit Village on the Portal's fourth floor, along with her two cats Filligree & Ferguson, her long-suffering partner, and her impressive collection of occult antiques.
